Daniel Galvin introduces Finger Painting

Daniel Galvin OBE is renowned for being the ‘King of Colour’. During the 60s he invented ‘Crazy Colour’, he modernised the highlighting industry with his ‘Brickwork’ technique and throughout the second half of the 20th century and the beginning of the 21st has been continually developing his art by coming up with new, innovative ways of creating the perfect hair colour.

As featured in the Sunday Times Style this weekend, Daniel has just launched a revolutionary new method of colouring the hair. Our new exciting technique is called Finger Painting and is a free-flowing, effortless look produced by gradually coaxing and teasing the colour through the middle to the tips of the hair with the fingers rather than applying the colour using combs and brushes and baking it in foils.

Using a specially prepared formula Daniel lifts the colour that already lies within the natural pigment of the hair, producing a hue that is a few shades lighter than the original and thus delivering a soft, uncontrived effect. Similarly, the finger weaving produces a gentle, more unaffected appearance, avoiding harsh, angular foil lines.

Daniel is thrilled to once again bring a new colouring procedure to the industry: “My key professional aim is to ‘Enhance Natural Beauty’ and I feel that this technique perfectly demonstrates that philosophy. This is such an ideal method for me – by using my hands I’m really getting in touch with my canvas and forcing to the surface that inner natural beauty.”

FINGER PAINTING IS AVAILABLE AT DANIEL GALVIN GEORGE STREET AND DANIEL GALVIN AT THE CORINTHIA.

The DG Acid Pedi - for Pretty Party Feet

As we steadily tip-toe towards Christmas and thus the impending party season we may begin to consider (and dread!) how our usually Ugg Booted feet might look in our sparkly strappy sandals. Fear not! Daniel Galvin has the answer...

The newest addition to the beauty treatment menu is the ACID PEDICURE which is an innovative and effective way of banishing calluses from your feet. Using pioneering product Callus Peel ™ the Daniel Galvin beauty team will pamper your feet, ridding the balls and heels of your feet of the dry, hard skin that plagues so many people’s paws.

First the skin softener is applied to the feet and wrapped in plastic wrap and a towel which makes the outside skin more pliable. Then, the ingeniously designed Callus Peel™ Scraper is used to scrape off this skin. This is the most remarkable part of the process, during which the skin simply peels off as you would peel a banana! The foot is then filed and moisturised leaving them as soft as silk.

Our talented pedicurists will then massage your feet and add nail colour so that you’re completely pedi-perfect.

Carole, Daniel Galvin beautician is a champion of our new Acid Pedicure: “Whilst the name might sound alarming, you won’t experience any amount of pain in the application of this product. It’s important to use such a powerful product in order to really break through and smooth even the toughest skin. We’re thrilled with the results we have already achieved!”

The Acid Pedicure is available at Daniel Galvin and is priced at £100.

COLOUR DISASTER?! Step this way!

Louise Galvin has developed a unique in-salon colour removing system which is exclusively available here at Daniel Galvin, where she works alongside her father.

Historically it has been very difficult to remove hair colour once it has been applied. In the past colour disappointments have been dealt with in three different ways: they have had to be stripped out of the hair with harsh, harmful chemicals; the hair has had to be bleached or patience has had to be exercised as the colour steadily grows out.

By contrast, the Louise Galvin Colour Removal System eradicates the offending colour swiftly and without damaging the hair. Containing NO ammonia or peroxide, this is the gentlest tool on the market to get the hair back to its natural state.

At Daniel Galvin we are always enthusiastic about enhancing natural beauty and the Louise Galvin Hair Colour Removal process is a perfect system to allow our talented colourists to go back to your hair’s basics and, from this virgin state, improve its appearance. This correctional method leaves the hair at a suitable pH for instant re-colouring so clients can immediately move on to highlights, colour or leave it in its natural condition.

If your chemist-bought product has turned your hair jet black or brassy yellow or you regret a party pink or a sultry red, this is the ideal opportunity to restore your hair’s natural beauty by creating a blank canvas and starting afresh.

Daniel Galvin is offering this miracle process at £150.

The Hair Colour Removal System was featured in Liz Jones' column in the Daily Mail last week: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-2052549/LIZ-JONES-My-25-year-battle-grey-hair.html

Who Fancies a Crazily Coloured Christmas?!

'White Rabbits' to one & all! And as November brings chilly weather & the central London shops begin to take on the appearance of a Winter Wonderland; we at Daniel Galvin start to think of Christmas and all the fab parties we will be preparing you for!!!

Autumn / Winter trends start to fill the salon as we create all manner of fabulous chic 'dos for our ever-fashion-conscious clients. Having scoured the fashion mags for the most trendy hairstyles, we've noticed the reappearance of one fabulous trend: CRAZY COLOUR.

Judging by our favourite celebrities’ locks at the moment, people are being more adventurous with the colours they choose. One of our talented colourists, Charlotte recommends either ‘Colour in Flashes,’ small clip-in hair pieces which can embellish your ‘do, or just a beautifully styled wig. That way you can pick and choose how colourful you feel!

However, (not to appear petulant but...)this colourful approach is nothing new! Daniel Galvin created ‘Crazy Colour’ in 1967. He says: “I developed Crazy Colour in order to shock people into considering any sort of colour in their hair. In those days, people merely used to colour their hair to cover their grey; it wasn’t seen as a fashion statement. I started dying hair bright colours using nylon dye, however, in the late ‘60s Zandra Rhodes came into the salon & suggested silk dye, which she used to make her silk prints. From here we then experimented with a chemist, using dye and emulsifying wax powder. This created bright and long-lasting colour. By the time the punks got hold of ‘Crazy Colour’, we had made our point but I’m thrilled that the look appears to be catching on again!”
