Hello and Welcome to the Daniel Galvin Blog

As this is our first blogpost, we thought that we’d give you a bit of an insight into what makes a globally recognised talent like Daniel Galvin tick, and what makes his salon unique.

At Daniel Galvin we are thrilled to be acknowledged as one of the leading salons in the industry. Daniel has recently marked his fiftieth year working in hairdressing. During his time, he has revolutionised the way that hairdressers colour people’s hair. His philosophy, which is to ‘enhance natural beauty,’ drives him to pay close attention to the colour of his clients’ skin and eyes and the natural movement of their hair.

Daniel has been in business for over 30 years but his flagship Marylebone salon was opened in 2003 and was Europe’s first Super Salon, spanning 9,000 square feet. In 2006 he was made an OBE for his contribution to hair colour and the hairdressing industry and was the first person in this field to achieve this great honour.

Here, Daniel gives us a little insight into his thoughts on hairdressing and why he is as good as he is: “In my opinion, the key to good hairdressing is to stick to the Four Cs: Cut, Colour, Condition and Curl. Obviously the cut is important as it is essential to frame the face and to highlight you features. Good colour starts with good condition; I make sure that each of my clients gets a prescription for thicker, glossier hair to enhance the shape and colour.

“But to me, colour is the most important factor. With colour, a hairdresser needs to take all elements into consideration: the eye colour, the skin colour and the natural texture of the hair. At my salon we’re keen to focus on natural beauty and therefore believe that when you have the perfect hair colour, the first thing people should notice is your eyes, and never your colour.

“Every colourist I have working at the salon follows this philosophy as every one of them was trained in-house. We have a team of over 100 working on two beautifully designed floors and we pride ourselves on cultivating a fun, bustling and welcoming atmosphere.”
