DAY 4 - THE SLICKED-BACK PONYTAIL

A very popular 'do at the Autumn / Winter 2011 catwalks this year was the 'slicked-back pony'.  Fashion shows such as Valentino and Louis Vuitton proved that ponytails may be old-hat when it comes to style but created effectively they can be the perfect option for work Christmas do as an easy 'desk-to-bar' style. 

Jay, one of our fabulous stylists, who has done extensive work at London Fashion Week shows us how to pull off a catwalk pony...

"This look is uber-sleek and super-polished.  We start with wax on the roots to help to create clean sections and then divide the hair into a lower half and upper half."

"Then we take the lower section and scrape it right back to create a very tight ponytail. Do the same with the upper section, dragging the two together and creating a face-lift effect! Then wrap your hairband in a ribbon of hair and finish with lots of wax and hairspray so that not one single hair is out of place.”
