Frankie does the Forties

This week Frankie has recreated some of the hairstyles of the Second World War.  In spite of becoming far more active in industry, businesses and on the land, women still made an effort to look delicate and feminine.   Hair was worn in side partings; with loose curls when worn down and a focus on the details when it was worn up.

Here are three of our looks (click on the images to make them larger):

LAND GIRL LOVELY

A quiff at the front and tucked in at the sides and the back.

THE GI's DREAM

Flowing & feminine with a pinned curl on the side.

HOME FRONT HONEY

Neat and prim, ideal for the work place but with detailed pinned curls at the nape of the neck.
